Islamabad. After the meeting between Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the flurry of major political change has intensified in this union territory. It is being claimed that many changes can be made including giving full statehood to Jammu by re-dividing Jammu and Kashmir. Amidst these discussions, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has lodged a strong objection. Pakistan has expressed serious concern over India’s alleged administrative and demographic changes in Jammu and Kashmir.
Reacting to reports of re-partition in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zahid Hafiz Chaudhry said such a change would have no legal effect. The Pakistani spokesperson said that India has violated international laws by taking unilateral and illegal actions in Jammu and Kashmir. Zahid Hafiz said that India cannot change the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, the Kashmiri people and Pakistan cannot be forced to accept the illegal decision.
Pakistan will continue to vehemently oppose any attempt to change India’s demographic structure and final status in Kashmir. This statement of Pakistan has come at a time when its Prime Minister Imran Khan is pleading for talks with India on Kashmir.
