New Delhi. Social media site Facebook said it has launched a new initiative, The Resilience Initiative website, to provide the tools and resources needed to combat hate and intolerance on the online platform. The initiative, launched in partnership with the Asia Foundation, aims to promote tolerance in the Asia Pacific region, strengthen inter-religion and inter-ethnic understanding, and combat activities such as violent extremism.
Facebook wrote, this community-focused initiative began with the organization of workshops with 60 organizations from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Pakistan and the Philippines. This website is the next step towards strengthening the target community. This website helps civil society organizations harness social media through tools and resources to build stronger communities, especially in areas affected by violent conflicts.
This website is currently available in English. It will be launched in Bengali, Thai and Urdu languages in the coming week and will be available in more languages in future. The Asia Foundation is a not-for-profit international development organization that brings together diverse stakeholders from government and local communities.
